Thomas J. McKiernan has been with Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Company Insurance, Inc since 1976 when he purchased The Abercrombie Company from the founder Abbot Abercrombie. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and the James S. Kemper Insurance Institute. In addition to being licensed in Life & Health and Property & Casualty, he has earned his Associate in Insurance (AIA designation) and Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS designation).
Having spent over 45 years in the Insurance Industry Tom has a wealth of experience both on the carrier and agency sides of the business. Tom began his career with the Kemper Insurance Group and held numerous positions beginning as a Claims Adjuster, Loss Control Engineer, Commercial Underwriter and eventually promoted to Divisional Vice President for the West Coast. Tom has many tasks as the agency principal and currently specializes in all aspects of Commercial Insurance.
Tom has also been extremely active in the Independent Insurance Agents of America and served as the Director of Development. He is a recognized speaker on insurance issues and has made presentations in thirty-nine (39) states.
Tom has also been extremely active in the community and over the years has served on the boards and as a trustee of many charitable and civic organizations including: National Catholic Education Association, Fairfield College Preparatory School, and St. Joseph Medical Center. He has also been active in youth athletics and coached Little League for 26 years and Stamford Youth Basketball for 13 years. In addition he served 13 years on the State of Connecticut Statewide Grievance Committee.
